Water voles, one of Britain’s best loved creatures and the inspiration for
Ratty in Wind in the Willows, are making a comeback after being pushed to the
    edge of extinction.

Water Voles often bring their food to the water's edge to feed and leave the chewed up remains in neat piles.

The population of water voles plummeted from 1.5 million in 1990 to just
200,000 in 2000 due to pollution and the diverting of water courses. In some
areas of the country the river dwelling animal went
    extinct.

That is… It’s exciting if you like your childhood stories to be Tory fantasies about the rural aristocracy.

And in this case I totally do.
